Air Stryk II

War and exploration have driven quite a few watch designs over the years. Huge hands and dial markers are easy to read at a glance on an oversized dial pilot’s watch, while the ubiquitous uni-directional bezel and luminous marker dials asserts to all passers-by that they are looking at one of a thousand different diver’s types.

Field watches inspired by the first pocket- cum-wrist watches of wartime sport wire lugs and NATO straps. So military and function driven designs are nothing new. Having said that, MTM watches go beyond basic design for their own service pieces. I guess that’s no surprise from the only watch brand that actually has a timepiece with a radiation sensor and exposure alarm.

MTM’s Air Stryk II is an all business ani-digi hybrid that brings a host of intel to the game. Functions are listed below but the half carbon fiber dial implies the feeling of a watch designed for duty beyond just tracking time. Huge three dimensional numerals glow long after the light source that gave them photons to store and release have gone out. Worst case scenario if they cease to glow overnight you can always hit the back light for ready time reference.  Protected within solid titanium housing, the proprietary quartz movement offers a wide array of function in a fairly robust 45mm x 16 mm case. Rated to 20atm, the watch is big but still feels comfortable on the wrist thanks to the light weight nature of the solid titanium. On top a multi-coated sapphire crystal is anti-reflective with UV protection for the dial, while a screw down crown insures no moisture or dust will find a way into the case. Offered in four case finishes and no less than 30 various strap & bracelet options, your sure to find the right look for your own version of this service piece.  Both the warranty and the lithium battery will expire after three years and prices range from $1,050-$1,325. Each Air Stryk II is individually numbered and is shipped in a water tight presentation box.
